Wolves could repeat Lemina transfer masterclass with surprise move for ‘unplayable’ £10m dynamo - opinion

Wolves could be tempted to explore one possible transfer this summer, a move that could replicate the success of Mario Lemina’s arrival at Molineux.

The summer transfer window will be a busy time for Wolves, who look to get to get to work at rebuilding the squad.

Gary O’Neil will have his list of areas to improve ahead of next season, with Fosun now needing to show the manager full support.

An area the boss hopes to replenish is his attack, with one player’s availability being something that should gather attention at Molineux.

Wolves should explore Paulo Dybala transfer situation this summer

While no interest has been reported, one player that O’Neil should eye in the upcoming window is Paulo Dybala.

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth explained that Dybala is open to a Premier League move this summer, with the 30-year-old expected to leave Roma.

What could attract Wolves is that the Argentine has a mere release clause of £10.2m, which will be valid until July 31st.

Having collected a host of accolades in Italy, including five Serie A titles, the playmaker will be on the move this summer, and Wolves should take inspiration from a 2023 deal to pursue the star.

Signing Dybala could replicate success of Mario Lemina transfer

In January 2023, Wolves captured the signing of Mario Lemina from OGC Nice, a player who had enjoyed his prime years in and around Europe.

Like Dybala, the Gabon international spent some of his career at Juventus, where he won two Serie A titles with the Bianconeri.

Now, the Old Gold could delve back into the pool of European stars and collect another jewel in the form of Dybala, who could have a similar effect on the club as Lemina.

Lemina’s experience in playing at the top level shone through over the 2023/24 campaign, seeing him crowned the Supporters Player of the Season for his efforts.

Not many thought that the capture of the 30-year-old would be as efficient as it has been, which should inspire O’Neil to look at Dybala.

The Argentine is by no means past his sell-by date, having contributed to 26 goals in 39 appearances for Roma last term, as per Transfermarkt.

Dybala was once called ‘unplayable’ by former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri, telling of his talents playing in just behind the striker.

It may seem wild that the playmaker could be available to Wolves this summer however, with a price tag as slim as £10m, O’Neil should take a chance on luring the luxury asset to the Midlands.

The one stumbling block would of course be maintaining the player’s wages, as he sports a salary of £116k-a-week in Rome, a price that would make him the Old Gold’s highest earner.

Wolves have attracted ageing luxury talents in the past, Lemina being one, with inspiration there to copy such market masterclass this summer.
