'Excellent' Newcastle player does not want to become Neymar's teammate this summer - journalist

A new club is interested in signing Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United, but he is not interested.

The 26-year-old is a man in demand this summer, with clubs circling around the Newcastle United midfielder amid his £100million release clause.

Suitors are able to activate that right now, meaning the Magpies could suddenly lose Bruno Guimaraes in an instant. However, as it stands, there is not a huge amount of appetite to pay a nine-figure sum for the Brazil international.

It has been reported that Arsenal are not planning to make a move for Bruno, while it has previously been claimed that Paris Saint-Germain are not considering a bid.

That leaves Manchester City, who are known to be interested, and a new suitor who already know where they stand regarding a deal for the ‘excellent‘ Bruno.

Ben Jacobs shares the latest on Bruno Guimaraes possibly leaving Newcastle United

A fresh update on Bruno’s Newcastle future has emerged courtesy of journalist Ben Jacobs. He has taken to X to provide the latest on the Magpies’ number 39 possibly leaving St James’ Park.

Jacobs has noted that Manchester City are currently the club that are most likely to activate his £100million release clause before it expires at the end of this month. He adds that Pep Guardiola’s side are the only club that is thinking about triggering the clause right now.

The journalist states that Arsenal and PSG are currently not in the picture, but does believe that there is also interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Jacobs wrote on X: “Al-Hilal have discussed triggering the clause, but Guimarães doesn’t want to go to Saudi. He is happy at Newcastle, so not pushing to leave, but the clause means an exit can’t be ruled out.”

Bruno Guimaraes not interested in playing in Saudi Arabia with Neymar

Jacobs notes that Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal have considered paying £100million for Bruno, which would allow the Brazilian to become teammates with Neymar. He joined the PIF-owned club in 2023, with Al-Hilal also boasting Aleksandar Mitrovic, Ruben Neves, Kalidou Koulibaly, Renan Lodi and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

They would be some pretty talented teammates for Bruno, but he is not interested in making the move. And nor should he be, even though Neymar is a fellow Brazilian and one of the greatest players of this generation.

Bruno is far too good to be playing in Saudi Arabia, and that is before we even consider the controversy of one PIF club paying £100million to another PIF club.

At the moment, it looks like Man City could be the big danger. That has been a concern ever since their move for Lucas Paqueta became a doubt, and now Toon fans will wait patiently and hope that they do not activate his £100million release clause.
