Report: Everton are in contention to sign 'very talented' £20m PL striker this summer

Everton are now one of the clubs who are in contention to land a player from Chelsea this summer.

A summer of continued improvement is needed at Goodison Park after Everton showed positive signs towards the backend of the campaign under Sean Dyche.

The Toffees endured a turbulent campaign which saw them stuck in a relegation battle for the large part of the term.

However, Dyche was able to turn things around as Everton comfortably finished above the drop zone with signs for optimism going into the new season.

But additions will be needed to continue that progression despite the ongoing takeover debacle after 777 partners missed their deadline to complete the purchase of the club.

And it seems as if the Toffees are now competing with a number of other sides for the signature of a player from Chelsea.

Everton eyeing ‘very talented’ player from Chelsea

One of the main issues Everton have had over recent seasons has been a lack of consistent goals from their strikers in the Premier League.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been far from consistent in any sense over the last few years with the Englishman struggling considerably through injuries.

He did end the campaign having netted eight goals, but it is not exactly a return to be shouting about considering he only scored a goal every 329 minutes.

And it seems this is an area which the Toffees will be looking to address this summer as they now have their eyes on a striker from Chelsea.

According to GiveMeSport, Everton are one of the clubs who are in the race to sign Chelsea outcast Armando Broja.

“Broja’s price has dropped due to lack of game time and goals. Fulham won’t return following the Albanian’s frustrating loan spell at Craven Cottage which cost the club £4 million,” Ben Jacobs told GMS.

“But Wolves, Everton, Crystal Palace, Monaco, Stuttgart and Al-Shabab are all clubs to watch. Broja is open to a Saudi switch should a concrete proposal materialise. Most suitors aren’t looking at offering more than £20m for him.”

Although Broja may have struggled out on loan, it is apparent the Albanian has enough credit in the bank to maintain interest in him from across Europe.

What Frank Lampard previously had to say about Armando Broja

The 22-year-old’s career at Stamford Bridge has never really taken off having only played 1163 minutes of football across 38 appearances for the Blues.

In that time, the young striker has only been able to find the back of the net three times and has endured struggles on his latest loan deal.

Broja joined Fulham in the winter window, but was unable to get his name on the scoresheet with just 80 minutes played for the Cottagers.

However, Broja has received a lot of praise in the past with former manager Frank Lampard waxing lyrical to the media about the Albanian’s talent.

“Well I gave him his debut at Chelsea so I did know him!” Lampard said.

“He’s a very nice, very good lad and a very talented young boy.”
