'What a guy': James Maddison raves about Arsenal player on Instagram

Tottenham Hotspur star James Maddison has sent a message to an Arsenal player on Instagram.

The Spurs midfielder is currently on international duty with England ahead of the Euros in Germany. Maddison is not the first-choice for the Three Lions by any means, but he can still be an important member of the squad.

Arsenal have a couple of players in the England camp who are guaranteed to start. Maddison has now had his say on one of them.

James Maddison raves about Declan Rice on Instagram

Tottenham and Arsenal have always shared a very fierce rivalry.

When the north London rivals face each other, it’s intense and there is a lot of animosity between both sets of fans all the time.

However, now, when Tottenham and Arsenal players head off to international duty, they spend a lot of time together and get along really well.

Two players who share a great relationship despite the north London divide are Gunners star Declan Rice and Spurs’ Maddison.

The midfield duo are together in the England camp right now, and there is a chance both of them could start against Iceland on Friday.

Ahead of the game, Rice took to his Instagram Story to post a picture of himself with Maddison with the caption “Partner!”

The Tottenham reposted it onto his Instagram Story and wrote: “What a guy man!”

Surprise Declan Rice stat at Arsenal puts Maddison to shame

Tottenham signed Maddison in the summer of 2023 to bolster their attack. He was given their number 10 shirt and started the season really well.

Rice was signed in the same window by Arsenal, but his role was completely different. He played over half of the season as a defensive midfielder and filled in as a number eight at other times.

The expectation before the start of the campaign would’ve been for Maddison to produce excellent attacking output, while Rice had to protect Arsenal’s backline.

The Gunners midfielder did his job brilliantly, but what is a surprise is that he outscored and out-assisted Maddison in the 2023/24 season.

Rice finished the season with seven goals and 10 assists in all competitions, while Maddison’s numbers for Tottenham read four goals and nine assists.
