‘Liverpool want him’: Journalist says Arne Slot could now sign £60m attacker

Crystal Palace are going to have some difficult decisions to make this summer.

The Eagles have been brilliant in recent months under Oliver Glasner, and these fantastic performances have led to plenty of speculation around the future of some of their key players.

The likes of Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze have been linked with moves away from Selhurst Park, while a number of top clubs are now said to be keen on Michael Olise.

Speaking on KS1TV, Steve Kay has been discussing the extent of the interest in Olise this summer, and he named Liverpool as a team that are keen on Olise as they want to sign someone in Mohamed Salah’s position to act as a backup and potential eventual replacement for the Egyptian.

Liverpool interested in Mohamed Salah backup in the shape of Michael Olise

Kay shared what he knows about Olise and the interest in the £60m winger.

“He’s the guy everybody wants and everybody needs,” Kay said of Olise.

“It’s a position Liverpool are looking for. Salah, I’ve been told he’s more than likely going to stay now, but they’re still looking for someone in his position, so Liverpool want him (Olise),” Kay said.

Olise would be brilliant

Liverpool will eventually need a Mohamed Salah replacement, and while Olise isn’t necessarily similar to Salah in the way he plays, he has the ability to be just as effective.

Indeed, the Palace star has shown this season just how dangerous he can be in the final third, and if Arne Slot pivots to a style that suits a less-direct wing combination, then Olise would be perfect.

Of course, as Kay says, there are a number of clubs keen on Olise, so getting this deal done won’t be easy, but the fact that Liverpool are looking at this situation is worth noting, and there’s certainly reason to be excited about the idea of Olise ending up at Anfield.
