Sky Sports journalist shares what sources close to Zinchenko have now told him about Bayern Munich move

Arsenal star Oleksandr Zinchenko’s future is up in the air with Bayern Munich said to be interested in his services.

The Gunners are expected to sell quite a few players once the summer transfer window opens on the 14th of June. Several members of the squad could be shown the door.

One of them could be Zinchenko, with reports claiming he has been put on the ‘chopping block’ by Arsenal after a disappointing season.

The latest on rumours linking Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko to Bayern Munich

Arsenal star Oleksandr Zinchenko has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich this summer.

The Ukraine international joined the Gunners from Manchester City in the summer of 2022 and instantly became a fan favourite at the Emirates.

Zinchenko, along with Gabriel Jesus, lifted the level at Arsenal and turned them into title contenders.

However, over the last 18 months, there have been a lot of question marks over Zinchenko’s defensive frailties, and he even dropped down the pecking order in the 2023/24 campaign as a result – he started none of Arsenal’s last six league games.

That has led to rumours that Zinchenko could leave Arsenal this summer, and Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich were named as one of his suitors.

Now, Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has shared the latest on the situation.

It has been claimed that Zinchenko is ‘not a hot topic of interest’ for Bayern at this moment in time. They are currently focusing on keeping hold of Alphonso Davies right now.

In case the Canadian leaves, Bayern’s focus will turn to Theo Hernandez – not Zinchenko.

Plettenberg tweeted: “Rumors about Oleksandr Zinchenko and FC Bayern: Currently, the 27 y/o left-back from FC Arsenal is not a hot topic of interest at Bayern.

“And close sources around the player confirm that a move to Bayern is very unlikely.

“Bayern, pushing to extend the contract of Alphonso Davies beyond 2025 now. The top candidate if the extension fails: Theo Hernández!”

One Premier League club could make a move for Zinchenko

Zinchenko has always been an important member of Arsenal’s squad.

The Ukrainian is an exceptional player with the ball at his feet and is one of the best in the world when it comes to playing in an inverted full-back role.

However, as Arteta looks to take Arsenal to the next level, he needs someone who is a lot more assured than Zinchenko at the back.

That’s why the 27-year-old has been linked with a move away, and along with Bayern Munich, Newcastle United are also said to be interested in signing Zinchenko.

However, whether the Magpies will meet Arsenal’s demands remains to be seen.
