Report: Everton eyeing swoop for 'top' Premier League player who's about to become a free agent

Everton are now eyeing a potential swoop for a player who is set to become a free agent at the end of the month.

What Everton are able to do over the summer transfer window is going to be interesting having secured Premier League football for another season.

The main question will surround the club’s ongoing debacle with a potential takeover of Farhad Moshiri‘s majority stake of the club.

Everton are believed to have now opened talks with other interested parties having seen 777 Partners fail to meet the deadline set to complete their proposed takeover.

With Moshiri in talks over selling his share in the club, the majority owner may be cautious over potentially putting big money into the club this summer as he eyes his future away from owning Everton.

And it now seems as if the Toffees will be looking to the free agent market as a possible area to find players to bolster Sean Dyche‘s squad going into the new campaign.

Everton eyeing free agent labelled ‘top professional’ by his manager

Some moves may be forced to be made at Goodison over the coming weeks with Everton potentially needing to sell players to avoid any further points deductions for PSR breaches.

Players like Amadou Onana could possibly be a victim of the potential fire sale on Merseyside with the Belgian midfielder receiving interest from Newcastle United.

With players needing to be sold at Everton this month, the free agent market will provide the Toffees with the perfect avenue to explore for players to bolster their squad.

According to TEAMTALK, Everton are monitoring the situation of Fulham winger Bobby Decordova-Reid this month.

The Jamaican is expected to become a free agent at the end of the month with talks over a new deal at Craven Cottage stalling.

However, Everton may not be the only side who are in the race for Decordova-Reid with Leeds United also showing an interest in the 31-year-old.

Bobby Decordova-Reid could offer cheap Jack Harrison alternative

Everton have now seen Jack Harrison return to Leeds with talks believed to be well underway over bringing Harrison back to Everton for a fee in the region of £30m.

But the Toffees could well find themselves with a much cheaper alternative to the 27-year-old winger this summer.

Here is a summary of how the pair compared over the 2023/24 campaign.

Although the Jamaican did fall short of Harrison in some aspects, he did manage to outscore the on-loan Everton man last season in the Premier League.

And as the report claims Fulham have offered the 31-year-old with a new two-year deal, Everton could also find themselves weakening a side just two places above them this season.

He is clearly a player who Marco Silva rates very highly with the Fulham boss having hailed him as a “top professional” just a matter of months ago.
