Chelsea eyeing rapid winger likened to Sadio Mane who'd cost half as much as Michael Olise - journalist

Chelsea are likely to be busy in the summer as they look to bolster their ranks and build on a difficult 2023/24 campaign.

The Blues struggled in mid-table for much of the Premier League season before rallying round and finishing sixth.

Chelsea have also brought in a new manager, with Enzo Maresca leaving Leicester City to take over from Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge.

With the Blues set for the Europa Conference League, they’ll also have additional workload and, as such, need more strength in depth.

Chelsea have been linked with a number of wide players in recent weeks, including Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise.

However, the Eagles man will reportedly cost around £60million, so the Blues may well look at more modestly-priced options.

According to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea are eyeing an ‘electric’ alternative who’s likely to be considerably cheaper than Olise.

The player in question is Crysencio Summerville, who lit up the Championship last season and is unlikely to stay with Leeds United in the second tier.

What has Ben Jacobs said about Chelsea and Crysencio Summerville?

The transfer insider said on GiveMeSport: “Leeds’ Crysencio Summerville could be a cheaper option for around half Olise’s price.

“Chelsea are still deciding on the best approach, since they know Maresca values wingers over wide forwards, but they are also well-stocked in this area.”

Who is Chelsea target Crysencio Summerville?

Crysencio Summerville joined Leeds from Feyenoord in 2020.

The Dutchman initially joined the Whites’ youth team, but it didn’t take long for him to become a first-team regular.

Summerville has made 89 competitive senior appearances for the Whites, registering 25 goals and 12 assists.

The rapid 22-year-old really came to the fore last season, with 21 goals and 10 assists from 49 outings in all competitions.

Summerville’s efforts for Leeds in the league earned him the Championship Player of the Season award in April.

As per The Express, Summerville’s style of play has been compared to that of Senegal international and former Liverpool star Sadio Mane.
