Report: Ange Postecoglou close to signing 'prolific' striker who starred at World Cup 2022

Ange Postecoglou is closing in on his first Tottenham Hotspur signing this summer transfer window, according to a recent report.

The North Londoners will be eager to go one better than their fifth-placed finish and return to the illustrious Champions League.

Whilst there was evident progress in Postecoglou’s first season in charge, the onus is now to achieve a top-four finish.

To do that, the Spurs boss will need to be backed in the window and with that said, it appears they’re close to signing a striker.

Tottenham Hotspur in advanced talks to sign Youssef En-Nesyri

Tottenham Hotspur are in advanced talks to sign Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri, according to Vamos Mi Sevilla FC.

The report claims Sevilla have to balance their books and view En-Nesyri as one of the greatest assets to raise funds.

That has led Spurs to ready a £21m bid for his signature, with the Morocco international keen on making the switch to North London.

En-Nesyri netted 20 times last term and has been one of the most ‘prolific’ strikers on the continent for the last few seasons.

The 27-year-old starred at World Cup 2022, helping Morrocco reach an unprecedented semi-final, scoring in wins against Canada and Portugal.

Tottenham Hotspur tried to use Bryan Gil in deal

The report further notes that Tottenham tried to offer Bryan Gil as part of the deal for En-Nesyri but Sevilla are only interested in a straight cash deal.

West Ham remain interested in the towering striker and could yet make a late bid to hijack the deal, with Julen Lopetegui having worked with him previously.

Spurs must try to wrap the deal up imminently.
