Report: Aston Villa could hijack deal for 'devastating' striker Tottenham want to sign

Aston Villa remain in the race for a ‘devastating’ striker Tottenham Hotspur want to sign, according to a recent report.

Unai Emery will be eager to bolster his ranks this summer transfer window as he looks to assemble a squad capable of competing across four fronts, including the Champions League.

He’ll be keen on adding to his forward line, with Ollie Watkins needing a backup if Jhon Duran is to depart.

With that said, it appears they’re still intent on signing a Tottenham target.

Monchi could hijack deal for Youssef En-Nesyri

According to AS, Aston Villa remain in the race for Youssef En-Nesyri despite reports suggesting Spurs are in advanced talks to sign him.

Sevilla are eager to move him on in the summer to balance their books as they remain in a delicate financial position.

The LaLiga outfit are hoping to receive £25m for his signature and Monchi could be key in any forthcoming deal, as he signed En-Nesyri whilst he was Sevilla’s director.

The Villa chief will likely have direct contact with his agent and could convince him to join the West Midlanders, who have the advantage of Champions League football.

Youssef En-Nesyri would be ideal for Aston Villa

En-Nesyri would be absolutely ideal for Villa as he’d provide them with a different profile up top.

The towering centre-forward has a terrific leap and would allow Emery’s side to play a more direct approach when necessary.

Further, he’s got European experience, which will be vital for a squad that’s still relatively inexperienced in that realm.

For £25m, En-Nesyri would be a shrewd acquisition.
