If you thought the Vampire facial was scary, another one sets 'your face on fire'

If you thought the vampire facial was intense, which uses your own blood to improve skin texture, then you might want to look away as we explain another cosmetic procedure that entails setting your face on fire.

The quest for beauty has sparked numerous trends and products including using snail slime to enhance hydration. Though most gimmicky trends are relatively cheap and cheerful, like the turmeric and honey facemask, the vampire facial demonstrated how rich people also love a weird and wacky treatment.

What is the vampire facial?

Last year, Twilight fans everywhere got their kicks as some of the biggest celebrity names posted horror-movie-like images with blood over their faces.

Crudely named the vampire facial, the treatment uses platelet-rich plasma in your blood for some pretty miraculous results. To apply the mixture, which is taken straight from your very own arm, dermatologists use micro-needling, which works by stimulating the skin into producing more collagen and elastin. When combined with the platelet-rich plasma, growth is increased.

Though the treatment’s success is partly down to its shock factor, customers have reported better texture, brightness, and overall feel.

If you’re not a vampire-lover, why not be a phoenix?

Considering the fact that 4% of the population has a fear of blood, it should come as no surprise that the vampire facial is not everyone’s cup of tea. But don’t worry, it turns out there’s a strange beauty treatment for everyone.

Introducing the Chinese fire facial, which, as you might expect, calls for your face to be set on fire. The treatment, which is referred to as Huǒ Liáo in China, became popular in 2017 for the magical “elixir” it uses before the sparks are even lit. Towles are soaked in a mixture of this potion and alcohol, which is then laid on your face and lit on fire.

If you’re concerned about burns, then you needn’t be, as the fire is only lit for a few seconds before another towel snuffs it out, resulting in dullness, sagging and wrinkles melting away from your skin.
