Report: Nottingham Forest have now placed £10m summer signing on transfer list after being snubbed by Nuno

Nottingham Forest are now receiving interest in one of their summer signings having been outcasted by Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 2023/24 campaign provided a number of hurdles for Nottingham Forest to overcome and that led to some hard decisions needing to be made.

Nuno Espirito Santo was able to keep his side up with victory on the final confirming Premier League football going into the new campaign.

But the Portuguese manager has had to make some important decisions when it comes to selecting his side in order to keep top flight football at the City Ground.

However, more difficult decisions could have to be made over the coming weeks with Forest potentially having to sell a number of players to balance their books.

The 30 June deadline for PSR could well see Forest needing to sell some of their players and there is now interest from the MLS arriving for a player who only signed last summer.

MLS interest landing for Steve Cooper signing at Forest

With players needing to be sold before the end of the month, it would be of interest for Forest to see what they can bring in financially from players who they no longer need at the club.

A prime example of this is with Odysseas Vlachodimos as Evangelos Marinakis and Ross Wilson need to reduce the numbers in Nuno’s squad.

It is believed Vlachodimos is now very keen to leave Nottingham Forest this summer having been frustrated by his lack of game time.

And it may not just be the Greek goalkeeper who could leave Matt Turner also a player who could find himself surplus to requirements.

According to The Athletic, Forest are now receiving interest from the MLS in their outcasted American goalkeeper.

With Forest looking to recoup the money they have spent on players like Vlachodimos, the finances involved could prove an issue for Turner’s potential return to his homeland.

Forest only bought the goalkeeper last summer in a deal worth around £10m with Arsenal, including add-ons.

Selling Matt Turner could kickstart Forest search for an upgrade

Finding the number one goalkeeper between the sticks has been a real issue for Nuno this season with numerous different keepers playing their part.

After the Portuguese manager’s arrival, it quickly became apparent that Turner was not going to be favoured by Nuno as the starting goalkeeper.

The American started the first five games under Nuno’s watch but was unable to keep a clean sheet in any of those five games.

With Turner’s spot in the side clearly not as the first choice, selling him this summer could help free up some financial room to make a move for another keeper this summer.

It has already been claimed that Forest hold an interest in the Gil Vicente goalkeeper Andrew ahead of the summer window opening.
