'A long time': £10m Wolves star now admits he's 'really happy' in hint over his future at Molineux

Mario Lemina has given a new interview with the club – and fans are going to just love what he has said about his future.

The Gabon international has just finished his first full season with Wolves, after joining the club midway through the 2022/23 season.

Mario Lemina completed a transfer from Nice for around £10 million, and not a great deal was made of it at the time. But he quickly established himself as a key player in the team.

He and Craig Dawson joining when they did really helped Wolves. Had they not been brought in, the club may well have been relegated to the Championship.

In 2023/24, Lemina was outstanding for the most part. He was a warrior in midfield and often covered every blade of grass in games – and even chipped in with a few goals too.

He was ultimately voted the Supporters’ Player of the Season, underlining his massive popularity – and now Lemina has said something the fans will really appreciate…

Lemina is a firm favorite with the Molineux faithful.

Fans took to him extremely quickly after seeing his tenacious style and personality on the pitch. The Wolves midfield lacked someone like him for years, and that combativeness is absolutely amazing to watch.

But Lemina isn’t just a top midfielder. He’s also a very good human being too. He always comes across very well in interviews and seems a lot more mature these days – something he himself admits.

The video Wolves put out last year of him making the day of young Wolves fan Frazer was truly heartwarming, and endeared him to the fanbase even further.

But Lemina loves the fans just as much as they do him, and it’s clear in his mind that he wants to stay at Molineux for a while.

Touching on the support he received after the sad passing of his father, Lemina told the club (Wolves official): “We’ve got such an amazing group. The lads are really good, with good hearts and they showed the togetherness. Even the fans were with me during this tough period.

“I’m really happy to be here and I hope I’m going to stay here for a long time, and I’ll try to give my best so Wolves can be the best Wolves team we can be

Lemina remarks are most welcome

Lemina clearly loves being at Wolves – and the fans absolutely adore him.

Few probably really expected him to have this kind of standing at the club just 18 months after joining. But Lemina is undoubtedly a huge personality and leader, and who knows where Wolves would actually be had they not signed him when they did.

He has had a major impact on that midfield since coming in, with he and Joao Gomes a brilliant pairing who are getting better and better.

It is great to hear that Lemina would like to stay at Wolves for a long time. Obviously he is 30 now, but hopefully he will be able to show the high levels he has been doing for a few more years yet.

The one slight worry is that Lemina is very dynamic and athletic, so you do just wonder how much longer he can keep playing in the way that he does. He is a very different kind of player to Joao Moutinho, who obviously never relied on physicality and could therefore still thrive in his mid-thirties.
