‘Could be a dark horse’: Newcastle could sneak up and sign £60m player this summer – journalist

Newcastle United could be set for an interesting summer transfer window.

Profit and Sustainability rules are proving to be a problem for the Magpies. However, as the richest club in the world, you can never write the Tyneside club off in any transfer race.

Speaking on mufcMPB’s YouTube channel, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Michael Olise’s future at Crystal Palace, and he’s named Newcastle as dark horses in the race to sign Olise alongside Chelsea and Manchester United.

Newcastle are dark horses to sign Olise

Jacobs spoke about Olise’s future, naming Newcastle as potential candidates to sign the Frenchman.

“It’s looking like a straight race between Chelsea and Manchester United, but Newcastle if they find funds, if Bruno Guimaraes goes to Manchester City for example. Could be a dark horse and Olise is going to take his time,” Jacobs said.

Olise would be a statement signing

Newcastle United seem to make at least one statement signing every summer, and Olise could be that player this time around.

Olise is one of the brightest young attackers in the Premier League, and if he joined Newcastle, Eddie Howe’s side would have perhaps the most exciting front three in the country.

Imagine Olise, Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon playing in the same attack. That would be a remarkable combination of pace, skill and youthful fearlessness that would cause problems for any team in the world.

Of course, as Jacobs says, Newcastle aren’t favourites in the race for Olise, but they are a team you have to keep an eye on in this battle.

Manchester United and Chelsea will be keen to beat the Magpies to Olise’s signature, but given their financial strength, Newcastle could blow their rivals out of the water and get this one over the line.

The £60m man looks as though he will be on the move this summer, but where he ends up remains to be seen.
