PSR may actually help Aston Villa land 20-goal Ollie Watkins alternative for bargain price

Aston Villa could now benefit from PSR in one scenario in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Unai Emery and Monchi have already started to work on possible transfers this summer at Aston Villa.

The duo will be hopeful of bolstering the squad that finished fourth last season in the Premier League.

Despite PSR being a concern for the Villans, the rules could now come of use to Monchi in one transfer scenario.

How PSR could help Aston Villa to sign transfer target Youssef En-Nesyri

While Villa have PSR concerns, they aren’t the only club to have the boundaries in mind, with Sevilla also facing similar struggles.

Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo have detailed that the La Liga club must make money as fast as possible before the deadline on June 30th.

Sevilla’s need to balance the books could come as a positive for Villa, will the report focusing around the future of rumoured target, Youssef En-Nesyri.

Estadio Deportivo now claim that the Spanish club could be forced to part ways with the Moroccan for far less than their asking price of €30m.

It’s even suggested that Sevilla ‘would accept offers’ as low as €15m (£13m), which would be a significant bargain for Villa to land.

En-Nesyri could offer a lot to Unai Emery

Bearing Villa’s own PSR concerns in mind, securing a new forward for a price as slim as £13m would be an ideal scenario for the Midlands club.

Having scored 20 goals across 2023/24 for Sevilla, via Transfermarkt, the 27-year-old could offer Emery a strong alternative to Ollie Watkins, particularly with talk of Jhon Duran’s future being in doubt.

While Watkins will be the manager’s firm first choice striker going into the 2024/25 season, it’s integral that Villa add to their depth this summer.

In En-Nesyri, Emery could have a reliable source of goals to either alternate or play with the Englishman, which would only be a positive move for Villa.

The Sevilla star outscored Vinicius Junior in La Liga last season, telling of his potency in the final third.

If Duran is to depart, Villa must recruit another number nine who could not only support, but also challenge Watkins, who had a phenomenal 32 goal contributions season in 2023/24.

Added to that is the upcoming pressures of the Champions League, with a squad large in quality required to have a chance at competing against Europe’s elite.

Purchasing En-Nesyri would be a smart move for Monchi and Villa, who could use PSR to their advantage this summer despite being wary of their own restrictions.
