Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is being heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
In the past, Chelsea and Tottenham have been reluctant to do any sort of business with each other.
However, that could change this summer, with Spurs reportedly readying a bid for Conor Gallagher.
Chelsea fans will not be happy, but there is already plenty of evidence to suggest that the club would be more than happy to sell to their London rivals in the upcoming transfer window.
Tottenham have already discussed signing Conor Gallagher with Chelsea
Unlike Roman Abramovich, Chelsea’s new owners seem to have no problem having a dialogue with their counterparts at Tottenham.
According to The Athletic, Spurs actually held serious talks with the Blues over signing Gallagher last summer.
Nothing came from it, which would have delighted Mauricio Pochettino. The midfielder was a key player for the Argentine, going on to make 50 appearances under him.
However, it shows that if Tottenham make the right offer, Chelsea probably will sell Gallagher to them.
Chelsea have sold to their other rivals
It is not as if Abramovich never sold players to England’s other top clubs, but the fact that Chelsea offloaded members of their squad to three of their biggest rivals last summer is good news for Tottenham supporters who want to see Gallagher arrive in north London.
The Blues, of course, allowed Kai Havertz to join Spurs’ north London rivals Arsenal, while Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic moved to Manchester United and Manchester City respectively.
Mount and Kovacic were both into the final year of their contracts, just as Gallagher is now.
Chelsea obviously did not want to risk losing them for nothing this and it will not be any different for Gallagher. So if Tottenham do go on to make a bid for the England international, if it is the right amount, it is hard to imagine them getting told no just because their name is Tottenham.
