Aston Villa are interested in signing a tenacious £10.2m-rated Brazillian player this summer, according to a recent report.

The Villans are in the market for reinforcements this summer as Unai Emery looks to assemble a squad capable of fighting across four competitions.

Emery’s men will be competing in the Champions League next term and it’s evident more cover is needed.

That said, it has just emerged that they’re interested in signing a tenacious Brazillian player.

Aston Villa interested in Internacional defender Vitao

According to Diario de Sevilla, Aston Villa have joined the race to sign Internacional defender Vitao.

West Ham United are chasing his signature and have already launched a £6.8m bid, though, it’s thought the Brazillian club are after around £10.2m.

LaLiga outfit Real Betis have also been credited with interest as they look to replace Crystal-Palace bound Chadi Riad.

Vitao almost signed for Barcelona in 2019 and now looks ready to make the step to European football, with Villa a feasible destination.

They’ll surely have the advantage over West Ham due to Champions League football.

Vitao is a tenacious defender

South American football expert Nathan Joyes took to X yesterday to profile Vitao amid interest from West Ham.

“West Ham clearly keen to add a centre back this window, and with the Fabricio Bruno deal looking unlikely, Vitão’s name has cropped up,” Joyes wrote.

“The Brazilian played a pivotal role as Internacional reached the Libertadores semi-finals, excels in duels, great blocker and reader of the game. One to monitor.”

A telling few days await Monchi, who could hijack the deal for Vitao.
