Report: Tottenham will only have to pay £20m to sign 'powerful' defender this summer

A Tottenham Hotspur defensive target is reportedly available at a ‘bargain price’ of £20 million this summer.

Tottenham could be in the market for another centre-back over the coming weeks as Ange Postecoglou targets reinforcements.

Despite snapping up Radu Dragusin from Genoa in January, Ben Davies is among a host of players who could head out the door. Should Davies be offloaded this summer, it would leave Postecoglou one short in the centre-back department.

It’s already been claimed that the Aussie boss is keen to bring in a new centre-back, as well as a midfielder and a new striker.

Now, GiveMeSport has claimed that a centre-back on Spurs’ radar could be signed for just £20 million this summer.

Tottenham target Riccardo Calafiori available at ‘bargain’ price

GMS reports that Chelsea are also interested in signing Riccardo Calafiori this summer.

Spurs were reportedly readying a move for the centre-back after an exceptional campaign with Bologna.

It’s claimed that Calafiori could be signed for just £20 million this summer but Chelsea and Tottenham could face a stumbling block.

Indeed, GMS claim that the defender’s current boss, Thiago Motta, is set to join Juventus and he wants to bring the player to Turin with him.

Calafiori would be the perfect Davies replacement

Should Spurs firm up their interest in Calafiori, it would be an astute move from the club.

The ‘powerful’ defender has starred for Bologna over the past year, having a hand in seven goals in 37 games.

His ability to play at centre-back and left-back would also be a huge plus for Postecoglou, particularly if Davies heads out the door.

But it would appear that Juventus are the frontrunners for his signature at the moment, with Fabrizio Romano claiming the 22-year-old has already said ‘yes’ to the Italian giants.
