Roberto Carlos praises ‘sensational’ Chelsea player, he thinks he is so skilful

Brazilian football icon Roberto Carlos has been full of praise for one Chelsea player after watching him play last season.

The Blues went on a really strong run in the final weeks of the prior campaign in order to secure some form of European football at least for next season.

While Manchester United’s FA Cup win meant it wasn’t quite going to be in the more illustrious Europa League that they first thought, it is still certainly an achievement based on where they found themselves just a few months before.

The turn in form was not enough for Mauricio Pochettino to remain in a job. He was removed from his post just days after the campaign came to an end, and has been replaced by Enzo Maresca.

When looking back at the Argentine’s tenure at Stamford Bridge, one player clearly stands out as the shining light.

Cole Palmer enjoyed one of the best debut campaigns a player has for a Premier League side, easily establishing himself as the signing of the season.

Roberto Carlos praises Cole Palmer

In an interview with URFreshSport, Carlos was asked which English players did he think had Brazilian flair in their game.

After temporarily forgetting his name, he listed Palmer first, whilst also mentioning Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden.

The trio could well be set for a devastating combination at the upcoming European Championships, with Palmer pushing for a starting place seemingly from nowhere.

Palmer scores first England goal

He scored his first goal for this country earlier this week in his first start, and while Gareth Southgate still had some critiques, he will no doubt be pleased with what he provided.

It remains to be seen if he gets the nod, or if Chelsea teammate Conor Gallagher is selected to start any games playing in a deeper role in midfield, after his own very impressive individual campaign at club level.
