‘Not happy’: Jorge Mendes is annoyed over what Man Utd have been told now - journalist

Manchester United are looking to do some serious business this summer.

The Red Devils are looking to act quickly and decisively in the transfer market, and they’ve already placed bids for two top young talents.

Goncalo Inacio and Joao Neves are said to be two players United have bid for, but both deals seem to have hit stumbling blocks.

Indeed, the bid for Neves was immediately knocked back with Benfica asking for at least €100m for their star man – much to the annoyance of Jorge Mendes.

According to Sergio Krithinas, speaking on The Transfers Podcast, Mendes isn’t happy with how Benfica have dealt with Neves’ future and United’s bid.

Jorge Mendes not happy with Benfica response to Manchester United bid

Krithinas spoke about United’s bid for Neves and how Mendes feels.

“He’s a massive player and Jorge Mendes is working on that, but Benfica are closing the door all the time,” Krithinas said.

“The offer Mendes brought for €60m from Manchester United and he was not happy when Benfica said they wanted €100m at least for Joao Neves.”

Jorge Mendes usually gets what he wants

It’s clear that Jorge Mendes wants this deal to be done, and one way or another, the super agent usually gets what he wants.

Indeed, Mendes hasn’t got to where he is in the game by rolling over and allowing clubs to have it all their way.

If he wants Neves to move to United, he will do all he can to make it happen.

Of course, the ultimate power does lie with Benfica, but we mustn’t underestimate the sway that Mendes can have on these kinds of deals behind the scenes.

Make no mistake about it, Mendes is one of football’s puppet masters pulling the strings behind the scenes, and he could well commandeer a deal that sees Neves end up at Old Trafford.
