After his 2019 election, Zelenskyy enjoyed a robust trust level of 80% from Ukrainians. This figure had dropped to 37% by February 2022 but surged to 90% following the full-scale Russian invasion. By December 2023, it had declined to 77%.

"The downward trend in trust continues and, as seen from the results, the main areas of criticism from ordinary Ukrainians are often related to unsuccessful personnel policies, decisions, and issues of justice. Currently, we observe more focus on criticizing the team rather than the president himself," explained Anton Hrushetsky, Executive Director of KIIS. He added that Zelenskyy still retains legitimacy in the eyes of Ukrainian society, with the majority continuing to trust him.

The KIIS survey, conducted from May 16-22, 2024, involved a random sample of mobile phone numbers, with 1,002 respondents from all regions controlled by Ukraine. The margin of error is up to 3.4% for indicators close to 50%, 3.0% for indicators close to 25%, 2.1% for indicators close to 10%, and 1.5% for indicators close to 5%.

The previous KIIS poll published on Feb. 15 indicated 5% decline in Zelenskyy’s trust immediately after Valerii Zaluzhnyi resignation as Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The Razumkov Center think tank released a survey on Feb. 7 showing that 69% of citizens trusted the president. He was ahead of other politicians in terms of public trust.
