Report gives detail on how much the release clause is worth of 'mesmerising' Chelsea target

A report has shared how much Chelsea would have to pay to trigger the release clause of one of their summer targets.

Chelsea fans are reading plenty of transfer speculation now we’re just one week out from the summer window officially opening for Premier League clubs.

The Blues have already wrapped up one piece of business by confirming on Friday the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer. He has signed a four-year deal at Stamford Bridge and joins on 1 July.

Will Enzo Maresca’s side have to dig deep into their pockets to make more signings, though?

How much Chelsea target could cost

Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, 25, is one of the attackers linked to Chelsea in the transfer rumour mill.

GiveMeSport recently claimed that London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham may be battling it out this summer to sign Palace’s attacking playmaker Eze.

Now, The Daily Mail claims that Eze has a release clause in his Palace deal worth £60m plus additional add-ons worth in the region of £8m.

It will be interesting to see if any club is tempted to meet the sizeable release clause to prise him away from Selhurst Park.

Eberechi Eze doesn’t need to be a priority

First of all, Palace’s talisman Eze is a massive talent.

The versatile attacker, who can play as a left-winger or as a central attacking midfielder, is deservedly going to Euro 2024 after being named in Gareth Southgate’s final England squad.

Described as “mesmerising” by Joel Ward via Crystal Palace’s official website, Eze has the talent to make the next step in his career.

However, The Chelsea Chronicle does not think the Palace ace should be a priority.

Chelsea already have Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk to play on the left wing. Meanwhile, Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku can play in the kind of central pockets that Eze loves.
