Nottingham Forest's new head of scouting speaks after 'very intense' meeting with Evangelos Marinakis

Nottingham Forest’s new head of scouting has now spoken out following his first round of talks with the club owner.

A nervy 2023/24 campaign is now in the books for Nottingham Forest and they can rest during this summer’s break knowing top flight football will return to the City Ground next season.

But Nuno Espirito Santo may now be concerned about potential exits from the club over the coming weeks with Forest one of the Premier League sides needing to sell before 30 June to meet PSR rules.

One big change which has already occured at Forest ahead of the summer transfer window is the appointment of the club’s new head of scouting, Pedro Ferreira.

With Forest already being linked with their first move of the summer in potentially signing Carlos Miguel, Ferreira has opened up on his first few days in the job.

Pedro Ferreira shares details of Nottingham Forest meeting with Evangelos Marinakis

Since being promoted to the Premier League, Forest have been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer windows having broken the record in 2022 for the most players bought in a summer market.

And although the summer transfer window has not even opened yet, it is apparent Forest are already trying to make moves happen.

As well as Miguel, Forest have been strongly linked with a move for free agent Che Adams but they are experiencing competition from Wolves.

With a few days now under his belt at the City Ground, Ferreira has spoken about his initial meetings with the club.

“They have been very good and very intense,” he told Mais Futebol.

“Meetings with the club’s owners, meetings with colleagues, with the coach, with the technical team and at this moment it is up to us to work so that next season Nottingham can be comfortable in the table and not be fighting until the last round for maintenance.”

Evangelos Marinakis has now had taste of European success with Olympiacos

The Forest owner has had a taste for European trophies with his other club, Olympiacos, after they won the Europa Conference League.

Although a spot in Europe is still a long way off for Forest after finishing 17 in the Premier League table, it will be interesting to see whether his success will make him hungry for more at Forest.

Forest may have been poor at times this season and just managed to survive the drop, but they have some quality players who are wanted across the league.

The likes of Morgan Gibbs-White and Murillo are both players who Forest have put huge valuations on after their 2023/24 campaigns.

With players of this calibre, Forest have to be aiming for a finish closer to the top half of the table.
