'Here we go, soon': Fabrizio Romano says West Ham now closing in on truly 'dangerous' signing

West Ham United have wasted little time in making moves for players in wake of the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

The Hammers finished ninth in the Premier League table and missed out on European qualification for next season, so they’ll want to do much better next year.

West Ham have also brought in a new manager, Julen Lopetegui taking the Hammers reins in wake of David Moyes’ departure at the end of the season.

With that in mind, West Ham will be eager to bolster their ranks and give Lopetegui the best chance of getting off to a great start in 2024/25.

Now, it looks as though the Hammers are on the verge of securing their first signing of the summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham have verbally agreed a deal to sign Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras.

The transfer insider, writing on X, said the Hammers have reached an agreement with the Brazilian club pending a medical in England next week.

Romano also claimed that West Ham would be paying €30million in total for Guilherme, with Palmeiras having a 20 percent sell-on clause.

“Final steps then… here we go, soon,” concluded the Italian.

Who is West Ham target Luis Guilherme?

Luis Guilherme is an 18-year-old midfielder who has risen through the Palmeiras ranks, breaking into the first-team last year.

He has made 44 competitive senior appearances to date for the club, a significant tally for such a young player.

In 2022, Football Talent Scout‘s Jacek Kulig wrote an in-depth scouting report about Guilherme, giving him a 9 out of 10 potential rating.

Kulig likened Guilherme to former Arsenal ace Henrikh Mkhitaryan and deemed him a “highly technical and creative player” who is “extremely dangerous on the counter” and a “spectacular dribbler”.

Let’s see what happens in the coming days, maybe even the coming hours. Hopefully it won’t be long before we get that all-important ‘here we go’.
