Dominic Solanke appears happy over news out of Chelsea earlier today

Chelsea are likely to have a busy summer on the transfer front in hope of ensuring Enzo Maresca can have the strongest possible start at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues struggled in mid-table for much of last season before rallying round and finishing sixth, which got them a place in the Europa Conference League.

Chelsea haven’t wasted any time on the transfer front. Indeed, they are already up and running in terms of new signings.

On Friday, the Blues announced that Tosin Adarabioyo would be joining on a four-year contract in a free transfer.

The 26-year-old centre-back will link up with Chelsea after his contract with fellow West London outfit Fulham expires at the end of June.

According to Sky Sports, Newcastle United had entered talks with Adarabioyo and Manchester United were also understood to be admirers.

However, Chelsea are said to have offered better personal conditions to win the race for his signature.

Adarabioyo joins the Blues following Thiago Silva’s departure from Stamford Bridge on a free transfer.

On Instagram, a video on the accounts of both Chelsea and Adarabioyo announced the player’s signing.

Plenty of fans and some fellow players, such as Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke and West Bromwich Albion’s Nathaniel Chalobah, welcomed the news.

Both Solanke and Chalobah came through the ranks at Chelsea, and seemed happy to see Adarabioyo join the Blues.

Adarabioyo has been one of the most highly sought after free agents of the summer, and Chelsea have now won the race for his services.

He has made 132 appearances for Fulham since joining in 2020, also registering five goals and two assists for the Cottagers.

At 26 years of age, Adarabioyo is only just entering his prime as a defender. The 6ft 5in ace is strong, fast and physically imposing.

It’ll be exciting to see how he gets on for Chelsea.
