'Probably the one': £21m player is the most likely to leave Newcastle as 'worrying' situation develops - journalist

The next three weeks could be very busy for Newcastle United.

While the Magpies have up until August 30th to complete their summer transfer business, June 30th is also a deadline that they might have an eye on.

That is when clubs must submit their next set of accounts to the Premier League, as they aim to satisfy their profit and sustainability rules.

It has been reported that six Premier League clubs are currently under pressure to sell a player or two before that June 30th deadline, one of which is Newcastle United.

That is incredibly frustrating, and sums up how the current PSR restrictions hold clubs back from trying to progress.

Miguel Almiron could solve Newcastle United’s ‘worry’

But if Newcastle United do need to sell someone between now and the end of the month, they do at least have some options.

That is according to HITC Football insider Graeme Bailey, who has suggested to Geordie Boot Boys that Miguel Almiron could be the most likely to depart.

“It just shows that the Premier League have got this one wrong,” he said.

“I believe Newcastle are close to the limit. It’s certainly a worry.

“The last week in June could be very interesting. It will possibly be like the wild west. It could be an extremely busy end to the month.

“If Newcastle do need to sell, Miguel Almiron is probably the one. There’s Callum Wilson too, or Kieran Trippier. There’s a few options to sell.”

Trippier is also an option to depart

Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Almiron is likely to leave the club this summer, so a departure before the end of June could be ideal. However, the £21million man is not the only player who Newcastle could move on.

Another option is Kieran Trippier, who is entering the final year of his contract at St James’ Park.

That means this summer could be an ideal chance to move him on, just a few months after Bayern Munich tried to sign him.

And Bailey believes that the Bundesliga giants are still keen admirers of Trippier, admitting to Geordie Boot Boys that selling the 33-year-old might not be the worst idea.

“Bayern Munich obviously like him – they still do. I think the move would appeal to Kieran Trippier, giving him the chance to play with his mate Harry Kane.

“I don’t think it would be a massive surprise for Newcastle United fans, given the situation with Tino Livramento.

“If they can get decent money for him this summer, it might not be a terrible move [to let him go]. Sometimes you have to take the money when it is there.”

While Newcastle do already have Trippier’s replacement in Tino Livramento, it would be a great shame to see the England international leave. He has had a transformative impact on Tyneside, and still has a lot to offer.

But his age and contract situation means that this could be a good time to sell, especially given Newcastle’s sudden PSR problem. On top of that, Trippier has not been spotted modelling the new Newcastle United kit for next season, so make of that what you will…
