Report: Aston Villa contacted by club over 'Messi-esque' player Emery wants to sign, told price tag is £34m

Aston Villa are likely to have a busy summer on the transfer front in wake of their wonderful 2023/24 campaign.

The Villans broke into the Premier League‘s top four to secure a place in the Champions League for next season.

Villa need to bolster their ranks to ensure that they can cope with the additional workload, something that hampered Newcastle last term.

The Magpies qualified for the Champions League last year, but their squad ended up being pushed to the limit, and could only finish seventh in the league.

Now, both Villa and Newcastle are being linked with one of Serie A’s rising stars, and there has been a development on that front.

According to Sportitalia – via Football Italia – Juventus have told interested parties, including the Villans and the Magpies, how much they want for Matias Soule.

Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla reported on X that Juve have set the asking price for the 21-year-old at €40million, or £34million.

Borussia Dortmund and Brighton & Hove Albion have apparently also been notified of Soule’s price tag.

Bayer Leverkusen, Crystal Palace and Roma also are said to be keen on the reported Villa and Newcastle target.

Who is Aston Villa and Newcastle target Matias Soule?

Soule has been in Italy since 2020, when he joined the Juve academy from Velez Sarsfield in Argentina.

The Argentine left-footer has just returned from the first loan spell of his career, in which he made a big name for himself

Soule has impressed on loan at Serie A side Frosinone, bagging 11 goals and three assists from 36 Serie A outings this term.

Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout previously said the reported Villa and Newcastle target is a ‘Messi-esque’ talent who ‘can really produce magic’.

Meanwhile, Claudio Ranieri is quoted by Tuttomercatoweb as saying: “When you have champions like Soule who shoot like Maradona or Zico, you just have to applaud him.”

Juve seem eager to sell Soule this season, so both Villa and Newcastle shouldn’t have any problems in moving for him.

However, the Villans may well have an advantage in the race for Soule by virtue of their spot in the Champions League next term.
