Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are among the clubs who have shown an interest in signing Kylian Mbappe’s brother, Ethan, this summer.
Spurs and the Blues are expected to be active in this summer’s transfer window. Their focus isn’t just on the first-team but also on their academies, where a number of talented young players are coming through.
TBR Football understands that Tottenham and Chelsea, along with another London club, wanted to add the younger Mbappe to their youth setup this summer.
Ethan Mbappe makes decision on his future after Tottenham and Chelsea interest
TBR Football understands that Kylian Mbappe’s brother, Ethan, has turned down the chance to move to England this summer.
Mbappe junior, 17, is set to follow his sibling out of the Parc Des Princes, with his contract also expiring at the end of June.
Whilst Kylian has finalised a move abroad to Spanish and European champions Real Madrid, Ethan is set to remain in France, with sources confirming to TBR that LOSC Lille are set to win the race for his signature.
However, TBR can also reveal that a number of Premier League clubs showed an interest in the French youth international, who has already made his first-team debut for PSG.
It is understood that Tottenham, Chelsea and West Ham United all showed an interest in adding the teenager to their youth set-ups.
But, Mbappe has instead opted to stay in Northern France and is due to sign a long-term deal with Lille.
Ethan Mbappe’s style of play
Although they share the same last name, Ethan and Kylian are completely different players.
The older Mbappe, who will play for Real Madrid in the 2024/25 season, is a rapid forward with incredible goalscoring ability.
His younger brother, who is just over eight years his junior, is a central midfielder with a good passing range and ability to carry the ball from deep areas.
Mbappe junior is also smaller in stature compared to his brother and is left-footed.
PSG manager Luis Enrique was asked about the teenager in a press conference following his debut in December 2023, and the Spaniard delivered his verdict.
“Ethan is a very interesting player who can play in several positions,” Enrique said, as quoted by Goal.
“I am sure he will play again. He has a prestigious surname, which is difficult to live up to.”
