‘Unbelievable’: Kieran Trippier says player Tottenham sold for £11m was so underrated

Kieran Trippier has named a former Tottenham teammate as the most skilful player he’s ever played with.

Trippier has played with some incredible players during his career at club and international level.

Indeed, Trippier has been lucky enough to call the likes of Luis Suarez and Alexander Isak teammates at different points during his career.

However, speaking on The Overlap, Trippier has named Mousa Dembele as the most skilful player he’s ever worked with, claiming that he was a remarkable player who never got the credit he deserved.

Kieran Trippier hails Mousa Dembele

Trippier spoke about Dembele and how good he was.

“Who’s the most skilful player you’ve ever played with?” Trippier was asked.

“Mousa Dembele at Tottenham. He was a remarkable player, unbelievable. He was unbelievable, I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves, and unbelievable player,” Trippier said.

Dembele is getting credit now

Trippier is right, during his playing days, Dembele didn’t quite get the credit he deserved, but now, anyone who ever played with the Belgian speaks so highly of him.

Indeed, since his £11m departure from Tottenham, Dembele’s quality in this Spurs team has been missed, and people have started to realise just how good he was.

Tim Sherwood perfectly encapsulated this earlier this year as he stated that Tottenham have never properly replaced the midfielder, comparing him to Rodri.

“I had one at Tottenham and they’ve never replaced him, Mousa Dembele, when he had the ball I could just sit back and relax because I knew he would do the right things and the right time, and that’s what Rodri does,” Sherwood said.

Dembele was a one of a kind player with his ability to control the midfield through a blend of skill and physicality, and, as Sherwood said, Spurs haven’t been able to replace that ever since.

Dembele was underrated when he was at Tottenham, but now, everyone realises just what a special player he was.
