Exclusive: Spurs want £20m for their 'outstanding' player as Champions League club's director comes to UK for talks

Tottenham Hotspur are likely to have a busy summer on the transfer front, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.

Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League table last season after their form tailed off in the latter stages of the campaign.

Tottenham will want to go one better and get back into the top four next year, which means they’ll need to increase their squad’s strength in depth.

Likewise, Spurs are likely to have several outgoings, with a number of players appearing to be surplus to requirements at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Emerson Royal is one such player, having struggled for much of his time at Tottenham, and AC Milan are interested in his services.

Now, TBR Football understands that Milan are in England for talks over a number of deals.

TBR sources have confirmed that the club’s technical director Geoffrey Moncada is in the UK and is talking to a number of Premier League clubs including Tottenham, Aston Villa and Chelsea.

One area Milan are looking to bolster is at right-back and Tottenham’s Emerson is one player they appreciate and are close to agreement with on personal terms.

However, the fee Spurs want is an issue, hence Moncada is talking to Spurs about what a deal would look like. Spurs are understood to want £20million for the Brazilian.

However, Emerson is not the only right-back option open to Milan – as Moncada has also spoke to Villa about Matty Cash – who TBR understands is someone Villa are open to selling this summer.

Whilst in England, Moncada is taking the chance to talk to a number of contacts. It is understood he has spoken to Chelsea about a number of different options including possible loan options.

TBR understands Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana are amongst a handful of players Milan have told Chelsea they would have an interest in taking on potential loans.

Moncada has also spoken to Chelsea about Romelu Lukaku.

Emerson Royal likely to leave Tottenham his summer

Although Ange Postecoglou praised Emerson earlier this season, lauding his “outstanding” attitude and demeanour, he sadly hasn’t kicked on at Tottenham.

The Brazilian is a good player, but it hasn’t worked out for him at Spurs. That’s not to say he won’t be a success elsewhere though.

Milan finished second in 2023/24, qualifying for next season’s Champions League, and they won the Serie A title just two years ago.

The fact they want Emerson shows that he’s a decent player, but it certainly looks like it’s time for him to try his luck away from Tottenham.
