'He isn’t leaving': £50m Chelsea player isn't going to depart the club this summer - Fabrizio Romano

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has been discussing the future of a Chelsea star.

A lot of Chelsea players are being linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge at the moment.

For example, there has been talk about Raheem Sterling leaving the club, while Conor Gallagher is thought to be attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Sterling and Gallagher were both important players for Chelsea last season, making 43 and 50 appearances respectively.

Their futures in west London, though, have come into doubt.

Fabrizio Romano on Chelsea star’s plans for the summer

Chelsea have appointed Enzo Maresca as their new manager following Mauricio Pochettino‘s exit last month.

There may be some players who the Italian wants to keep at the club and some he wants to let go.

One Chelsea star who looks keen on staying at Stamford Bridge and playing under the 44-year-old is Sterling.

According to Romano, the winger has no plans of leaving Chelsea and, as of now, is not going anywhere. Addressing speculation that Fenerbahce are interested in Sterling, the Italian journalist told CaughtOffside: “The strikers market is slowly entering important weeks and things will happen in June, but someone who is not planning to make a move at least as of now is Raheem Sterling.

“He isn’t leaving Chelsea and joining Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce, even if the Turkish club are willing to make very good investments for the Portuguese manager.”

Should Raheem Sterling join Fenerbahce?

Sterling certainly was not at his best last season. He scored just eight goals in the Premier League and lost his spot in the team towards the end of the campaign.

However, the England international is still 29. He probably has a few more years at the top level.

While Sterling was not prolific during the 2023/24 campaign, some of his goals were quite big ones. For example, he scored twice against Manchester City, who sold him to Chelsea for £50m two years ago.

If Sterling does leave Chelsea this summer, which currently looks unlikely, then you expect him to join another Premier League club instead of Fenerbahce.
