Report: Manchester Utd want to make 'world-class' Euro 2024 star their 'marquee' signing; would cost £68m

Manchester United want to make a marquee signing this summer and could now go for a player set to light up Euro 2024.

INEOS and Jim Ratcliffe are under pressure to bring in some new faces this summer and show they mean business when it comes to strengthening the first-team squad.

A number of players are already being linked with moves to Old Trafford.

However, it’s one of England’s jewels that United are seriously considering making an offer for right now.

Manchester United want to bring Eberechi Eze to Old Trafford

According to a report from The Sun, United are putting themselves in the picture to sign Eze from Crystal Palace this summer.

Eze had another electric season with Palace and earned a place in the Euros squad with England, beating out the likes of James Maddison and Jack Grealish to selection.

However, at club level, his future remains uncertain and it’s claimed that United would now like to make Eze their ‘marquee’ signing under INEOS.

Tottenham are also very keen on signing the England man and it’s even suggested that Spurs are currently leading the race after hosting Eze and his family last season.

Eze has a release-clause at Palace that’s thought to be worth £68m all-in when add-ons have been included.

World-class Eze can shine for United

There is no doubt it’s now time for Ebere Eze to move away from Palace and take the next step in his career.

That means playing for a club like United, where the pressure and expectation is suddenly a lot different.

Eze, though, can handle it. He has been lauded all season and Joe Cole recently spoke of how he finds Eze to be a ‘world-class’ operator.

“He is one of the players in the Premier League who I love watching. He is so balanced, he brings the ball, he goes both ways, and again, he is one of them great players, when you have a world-class player, the game calms around him. He takes his time,” Cole said.

Eze, then, could well be the midfielder Old Trafford needs to get them off their feet and excited.
