Fawaz Al Hasawi rejected player Stuart Pearce recommended in 2014, now tables have turned on Forest - opinion

Fawaz Al Hasawi rejected a player Stuart Pearce recommended for Nottingham Forest back in 2014 – and now the tables have turned.

Ten years on from this decision, the player in question now seems to have taken revenge on the Garibaldi by rejecting them himself – despite Nottingham Forest holding confidence about a deal.

So, what is the latest at Nottingham Forest? Let’s take a look…

Tables turn on Nottingham Forest after Che Adams rejection

By the looks of it, Nottingham Forest have now been rejected by Che Adams.

A story from Fabrizio Romano on Thursday claimed that the Reds were confident about signing the Scotland international, and expected to secure his signature on a free transfer after his contract with Southampton expired.

Now – however – a twist from the Daily Record claims that Adams will join Wolves instead.

It comes after The Athletic revealed that Pearce recommended Adams to Al Hasawi way back in 2014 when the striker was still playing for Ilkeston Town, although the Chairman at the time decided not to sanction the deal.

Harry Maguire – at Sheffield United in 2014 – was another player who Pearce recommended, but again, it led to nothing.

After Al Hasawi rejected Adams, he went on to join Sheffield United before starring at Birmingham, netting 38 goals in 123 appearances for the Blues before sealing a £15m move to Southampton.

Now – however – the man from Leicester has taken the opportunity to join Wolves instead of Nottingham Forest, meaning the Adams saga has well and truly gone full circle at the City Ground in the past decade.

Disappointing

In our view, it is disappointing to see Adams choose Wolves over Nottingham Forest.

Evangelos Marinakis and Ross Wilson need to be smart with recruitment this summer as the Reds once again find themselves flirting with the red section of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) – so a free transfer would have been a great way to improve the squad, and stay financially prudent.
