Fabrizio Romano has shared the ‘latest’ on Armando Broja after claims Everton are in talks to sign the Chelsea striker.
The summer is expected to be a difficult transfer window for director of football Kevin Thelwell and Sean Dyche.
It’s no secret that Everton are facing the possibility of offloading a key player or two as they bid to balance the books and avoid further punishment from the Premier League.
With that in mind, claims made yesterday that Everton are in talks with Chelsea over a £30 million deal for Armando Broja came as a surprise.
Journalist Ben Jacobs reported that the Toffees are aiming to move quickly in an attempt to bring Broja to Goodison Park.
However, Romano has a less positive update for Everton fans as he claims that while the club admire the Chelsea star, a deal to sign him is not imminent.

Romano spoke to CaughtOffside and shared what he’s heard about Everton’s interest in Broja.
According to the transfer insider, the Everton board like Broja but a move is currently on hold due to the club’s financial situation.
“My latest understanding is that the Everton board like Broja but with their financial situation, it’s all on stand-by now. It’s not something imminent or close, interest is there as well as from many other clubs as Broja is 100% expected to leave Chelsea on a permanent transfer this summer,” Romano said.

Broja move not imminent
Whether or not Romano’s update will be a disappointment for Everton fans is likely to divide opinion.
The Albanian forward has shown plenty of promise during his time at Chelsea, particularly during a loan spell at Southampton two years ago.
Broja is a real handful for opposition defences and his physicality would lend itself well to Dyche’s style of play.
With that being said, the 22-year-old wouldn’t exactly represent an upgrade on Everton’s current options upfront.
Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin netted just 10 league goals between them this season but Broja has managed just eight in 66 games in England’s top flight.
