'When I went to Everton': Frank Lampard highlights Goodison Park 'issues' as he searches for new managerial job

Former Everton manager Frank Lampard has highlighted the issues he came across during his time on Merseyside.

Premier League football was secured for the 2024/25 campaign by Sean Dyche after the 52-year-old guided Everton to a strong end to the season.

However, it was a season which brought its difficulties with the club falling short of the PSR rules which resulted in docked points.

And the Toffees are going to have to see players depart Goodison Park this month with June 30 marking the latest PSR deadline.

Everton are said to be one of six sides which are in a position where they will have to offload players to balance the books this month.

Now over a year on from his sacking at Everton, Lampard has discussed the issues he endured at the club as he now seeks a new role in management.

What Frank Lampard said about the issues at Everton

The former Chelsea manager lasted just shy of a full year on Merseyside where he oversaw 44 games and averaged a point per game.

Lampard was able to secure Everton’s survival in the top flight during the 2021/22 campaign with a total of just 39 points.

But as Everton sat second bottom in the Premier League table last January, Lampard was sacked with Dyche taking over at Goodison.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Lampard has now claimed there were issues at Goodison Park which he had to deal with whilst working as the Everton manager.

“I am ready to work. When it feels the right opportunity comes from my end or whoever wants to give me that opportunity, I think I am pretty well versed now in understanding in what that is,” Lampard said.

“I have had difficult jobs. When I went into Derby, we had FFP problems. We managed to get to a playoff final. It was challenging. It was great, all great experiences. Chelsea, I went in with a transfer ban.

“When I went to Everton, obviously we have seen the issues that Everton have. I have taken on challenges. Probably now it is the right time for me to try and find the right challenge, with the right job, the right expectations, the right support around it, and when that comes, I will be delighted to get that work.”

Everton’s issues may now be closing in on an exit

During Lampard’s time at the club, he did admit that he had to work within a budget and suffered the loss of several players during his time as the manager.

This is something which may soon change at Everton with Farhad Moshiri currently in talks with several parties over a potential takeover deal.

A deal with 777 Partners has seemingly collapsed after they missed their deadline at the end of last month to get their proposal over the line.

Dyche worked wonders towards the end of the 2023/24 campaign and if the ownership is to change, then surely there will be a lot more to be positive about at Everton as the new stadium also nears its completion.
