Report: Inter Miami now in the race to sign former Lionel Messi teammate with 253 career goals

Inter Miami have reportedly joined the race to sign another former Lionel Messi teammate who has had quite the career.

The Herons have become something of a landing spot for players Messi has played with throughout his career, namely those who featured alongside the Argentine international during his best years at FC Barcelona.

Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba have all signed for Inter Miami in the last 12 months, with Angel Di Maria now also reportedly on the Florida franchise’s radar as a target for the 2025 January window.

Yet another big name player could now be heading to Inter Miami this summer.

Alexis Sanchez wanted by Inter Miami after Inter Milan departure

According to Messagge Roveneto, Inter Miami have joined the extensive list of clubs interested in signing Chilean international Alexis Sanchez, who is due to leave Inter Milan as a free agent this summer.

A Serie A champion with the Nerazzurri this season, Sanchez has a reputation as one of the most entertaining attackers in the last 15 years, with the winger thriving at both Barcelona and Arsenal during the peak of his career.

Scoring 253 goals for club and country in all competitions, Sanchez could be ready for a move back to the Americas this summer with the forward now 35-years-old, with the likes of River Plate interested in the winger.

However, Inter Miami are also in the race for Sanchez, and if the Herons were to add more firepower to their ranks this summer, they might struggle to find better with their limited resources than Messi’s former teammate.

Sanchez could make MLS a walk in the park for Inter Miami

Sanchez is a highly-regarded attacker who has impressed at the highest level for the best part of 15 years, and if the forward was to take his talents to Inter Miami, MLS could become a cake walk for the Herons.

As we know, Messi and Luis Suarez are already the best-attacking duo in the division halfway into the regular season, and adding another incredible piece of firepower to the mix in Sanchez could make the second-half of the season a breeze.

Whilst the Chilean is at the end of his career, Sanchez still has the quality needed to thrive in MLS, with Inter Miami an ideal destination for the 35-year-old attacker this summer.
