Fans can’t decide if new Kraft popcorn flavor is ‘nasty’ or ‘pretty awesome’

The internet is divided once again; this time on whether or not the new Kraft Mac and Cheese popcorn is something to be celebrated or relegated to the back of the snack cupboard.

Shockingly, the Kraft Mac and Cheese popcorn is not the strangest product release of the year. In February, we were treated to the release of Frankford Candy’s Dill Pickle Jelly Beans, and just last week, Dunkin’ teamed up with Scrub Daddy for the collaboration that no one saw coming.

Introducing the Kraft Mac & Cheese flavored popcorn

Macaroni and cheese is arguably one of the most iconic Western meals and was first envisioned in the 1769 book, The Experienced English Housekeeper. Though the recipe has changed over the years, mac & cheese is predominantly made using a béchamel sauce with cheddar cheese.

News of Kraft’s new creation was highlighted by the Instagram snacking page, Snackolator, who fans might remember teased the Cookie Monster cone from Dairy Queen.

“This is a new item from @popcornfactory and features popcorn that has that magical yellow Kraft Mac & Cheese taste (and color) coating it,” he penned on Saturday. “I am not sure which stores might end up carrying this one, but just like the recent Oscar Mayer popcorn… that bag is quite the attention grabber! If you want it now you can get it from the Popcorn Factory’s website.”

On the Popcorn Factory’s website, the Kraft Mac & Cheese Popcorn bags are listed in packs of three for $19.99.

Some have said it’s a ‘crime’ to create such a product

After Snackolator shared the exciting news with his 302k followers, many took to the comments to share their thoughts.

One person wrote: “I would actually enjoy this since I don’t eat Mac and Cheese. When I was little, I liked it, but as I got older, the texture of the Elbow Macaroni was not so much. Lol!”

“The SPEED at which I immediately started looking into buying this,” another person said, while a third added, “It sounds like it’d either be good af or nasty with no in-between.”

Someone else suggested: “That would probably be pretty awesome.”
