Aston Villa have one ‘crucial’ demand as Juventus offer bold swap deal for Douglas Luiz

Fabrizio Romano has now shared an update on the future of Douglas Luiz at Aston Villa as Juventus close in.

Aston Villa will expect to lose at least one key player this summer as a result of PSR concerns.

Unai Emery and Monchi will be in a sell-to-buy situation in the transfer window, with Douglas Luiz’s future speculated as a result.

The Brazilian has been linked to both Juventus and Arsenal ahead of the summer, with journalist Fabrizio Romano now sharing a detailed update on the deal.

Fabrizio Romano shares update on Douglas Luiz future at Aston Villa

Taking to The Daily Briefing, the renowned journalist admitted that Luiz could ‘really leave’ Villa Park this summer.

Romano claimed that while Teun Koopmeiners is considered an ‘absolute priority’ for Juventus, the Serie A side see an ‘opportunity’ with Luiz.

While Juventus have the Brazilian in their sights, the 26-year-old won’t be permitted to leave unless Villa’s ‘crucial’ demand is met.

One crucial element is the player’s salary, and the other being Villa’s need for cash this summer.

Romano claimed that the ‘only way’ Juve can make the deal happen is a swap deal, with there being no possibility of handing the Villans €60m to make the transfer a simple transaction.

Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior are two players named as part of a possible swap deal, a prospect that is ‘being discussed’ although the issue of Villa needing cash remains.

It’s not all bad news for Villa as Romano added that ‘other clubs’ could test the waters with Luiz, with Premier League interest listed.

Villa must be demanding in Luiz transfer scenario

If Villa want funds to part ways with Luiz, a swap deal may not work, particularly if the two players mentioned do not suit what Emery desires.

The Premier League interest is the most encouraging factor from Romano’s update, as clubs within the top flight will be able to meet the Brazilian’s wage demands and Villa’s asking price.

Villa must not forget that they are parting ways with a player crucial to Emery’s system, so negotiations must be rigid considering the calibre of the talent that could exit.

Juventus may not be the best option for Villa however, the midfielder seems to be open to the move, so long as his salary expectations are met.

It will certainly be an interesting narrative to follow as Luiz’s future at Villa Park looks to be in serious doubt.
