Report: £65k-a-week Newcastle United player agrees deal to join another Premier League club

A Newcastle United player has agreed to join another Premier League, according to a recent report.

Eddie Howe came under large amounts of scrutiny last term but he managed to end the season strongly and maintain his position.

Now, the former Bournemouth boss will be desperate to bolster his ranks but to do that he’ll have to trade in the window to stay in line with Financial Fair Play regulations.

With that said, it seems one player is about to leave, imminently.

Ryan Fraser agrees to join Southampton

According to The Athletic, Newcastle United winger Ryan Fraser has agreed a deal to leave the club for Premier League newcomers Southampton.

The final details are yet to be confirmed but the 30-year-old is all but set to end his near four-year stay on Tyneside.

Fraser, who is reportedly earning £65k-a-week at Newcastle, enjoyed a productive loan spell at Saints last term, netting eight times whilst laying on three assists.

The former Bournemouth wide man started the play-off final against Leeds, helping his side to a 1-0 win at Wembley.

Transfer fee not yet confirmed

Fraser has one year remaining on his contract at St James’ Park, so it’s thought Newcastle will receive a transfer fee.

Though, at this stage, there has been no report on how much they are set to bank.

The Scotland international was a big earner at Newcastle, so perhaps club chiefs were willing to let him go on the cheap just to get him off the books.
