'The lad also has...': Journalist now drops key update in Wolves pursuit of 'terrific' target

Wolves have been handed a timeframe of when they could sign one of Gary O’Neil’s leading targets this summer.

Gary O’Neil will be eyeing several targets ahead of the summer transfer window, as Wolves require added depth and quality ahead of 2024/25.

The Old Gold have already been linked to many talents, with it now reported that the club have a medical scheduled for Rodrigo Gomes, who could become the first signing of the summer.

Signing a forward will be O’Neil’s priority in the window after failing to capture a number nine in January, with one player’s future now analysed amid interest.

Alan Nixon shares Che Adams transfer timeframe amid Wolves interest

It’s no secret that Wolves are admirers of Southampton striker Che Adams, who is out of contract at St Mary’s this summer.

The Old Gold attempted to sign the Scotsman last summer although the Saints blocked O’Neil’s move.

Speculation has circulated regarding the 27-year-old’s stance ahead of next season, with Southampton wanting to renew his contract and Wolves and Nottingham Forest also circling.

Wolves have offered a contract to Adams, who is yet to make a decision on his future.

Now, journalist Alan Nixon has provided a prediction on when the Midlands club could expect to hear from the Scotland international.

The Sun reporter admitted he ‘can’t imagine’ that any deal will be struck before the upcoming Euros.

‘Wolves and Forest in and the lad also has Southampton. Can’t imagine he decides until after Euros. And can’t imagine clubs will want that either.’

Gary O’Neil project should be enough to lure Adams to Molineux

Lauded as ‘terrific’ by Ally McCoist for his form on international duty, Adams could be the number nine presence that O’Neil wants so badly at Wolves.

While there is competition over securing the striker’s signature, with Southampton and Forest wanting the forward, Wolves’ project should excite the 27-year-old.

Given O’Neil’s desire to sign a centre-forward, Adams could be Wolves’ first-choice striker next season, something he isn’t guaranteed at either Saints or Forest.

Added to that, the Old Gold have the best chance at progressing in the Premier League, with Forest battling relegation last term and the Saints returning from the Championship.

It will be interesting to see just how the club navigate their interest in Adams, who will have his mind firmly on the upcoming Euros with Scotland.
