Patrick Vieira gives honest thoughts on managing Strasbourg under Chelsea owner Todd Boehly

While Todd Boehly is one of the owners of Chelsea, they are not the only football club who he is responsible for.

The American is also the figure in charge of Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, who are led on the pitch by manager Patrick Vieira.

Despite the fact they were lingering towards the bottom of the table for large portions of last season, they stayed up after finding some form late in the campaign.

A big part of that was the coming to form for loanee Andrey Santos, who came in for the second half of the season after a rough spell at Nottingham Forest.

Patrick Vieira excited about future under Todd Boehly

Chelsea are clearly the priority for Boehly and co, however Vieira told Stick to Football that he still has ambitions of playing in Europe under the current model.

He said: “Now one of the owners is Todd Boehly, so we are part of the Chelsea family. The ambition is to play European football in the next three years. Of course, coming from this year, there is a big turn of young players, and this year was challenging and difficult – we struggled and went through some difficult periods.

“Hopefully, we will keep our best young players, we’re going to try and improve the team and try to finish in the top 10 next year. Then, why not play European football in two years’ time from now?”

BlueCo set to sign Pedro Lima

It was reported recently that BlueCo were set to secure a deal to sign promising young defender Pedro Lima.

While it originally looked as if he was going to be heading straight to Chelsea, it seems at this stage that he will be moving to Strasbourg, although of course with an eye to a move to Stamford Bridge in the future.

This conveyer belt does seem as if it can benefit both sides, and it doesn’t seem as if the owners are done when it comes to building their network of clubs under their leadership.
