Report: Sheffield Wednesday's 21 G/A target is now 'likely' to be sent back out on loan this summer

One of Sheffield Wednesday’s transfer targets looks set for a loan move away this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday have already been linked with a number of players as they look to bolster their squad ahead of a more competitive campaign of Championship football.

The Owls are desperate to bring in attacking reinforcements after loanees Ian Poveda, Ike Ugbo and Ashley Fletcher returned to their parent clubs, while Lee Gregory was released.

Danny Rohl‘s contract renewal suggests Dejphon Chansiri is prepared to provide him with transfer funds this summer, though that hasn’t stopped him from looking back into the loan market after January’s success.

One player Wednesday have been tracking is Karamoko Dembele, who picked up eight goals and 13 assists whilst on loan at Blackpool last term.

Despite failing to score since joining Brest from Celtic in 2022, it was unclear whether the French club would be open to letting Dembele leave for the 2024/25 season.

Could Karamoko Dembele leave Brest on loan again?

With two years remaining on his contract, Brest could have been excused for wanting to rake in a decent fee for his permanent exit – which could have been a financial struggle for the Owls.

However, The Star have now reported that the winger is ‘likely’ to leave on loan again this summer.

Dembele has been linked with a long list of clubs, including Leicester, Luton Town and Everton.

The competition for his signature will be fierce, but the Owls’ chances of picking him up have definitely increased now that they aren’t looking for a permanent departure.

Sheffield Wednesday can guarantee the winger regular minutes

The 21-year-old narrowly missed out on the League One play-offs with Blackpool last season, but surely the next step up for him would be a Championship switch.

Both Dembele and Brest will want guaranteed regular first team football wherever he ends up, so joining a Premier League club may not be the best idea for him.

If Wednesday can snap up someone of Dembele’s calibre and he can keep up his form from his time at Bloomfield Road, then he could really help push them further up the table in Danny Rohl’s first full season.
