Inter Miami told how they can become a ‘juggernaut’ in MLS once Lionel Messi returns

Inter Miami have been told how they can become the best team in MLS once Lionel Messi is back in action for Inter Miami.

The Herons headed into this month’s international break top of the Supporters’ Shield standings, with Inter Miami the most dangerous side in MLS having scored the most goals in the division thanks to Messi and Luis Suarez.

Breaking numerous records along the way, the Argentina international has been nothing short of sensational for Inter Miami this season, even with Messi missing a number of games due to injury and fitness issues.

And the Florida franchise have now been told how they can get better once Messi is back.

Inter Miami urged to fix issues in the backline to help Messi thrive

Writing for MLS’s official website, league expert Matt Doyle has said Inter Miami fixing their problems in defense could be all it takes for the Herons to become a ‘juggernaut’ in the division.

Whilst Inter Miami’s goalscoring record is quite incredible, the same can’t be said on the other side of the coin, where the Florida franchise have one of the worst defensive records in MLS at the halfway point of the regular season.

Having lost Nicolas Freire to injury, additions will be needed at the back this summer if Inter Miami are to solve their leaks at the back, and such changes could be what transforms the Herons into one of the best sides in MLS history.

Doyle said on how Inter Miami can improve this summer when Messi returns: “They need to be better on the backline and with the ball in order to become the kind of juggernaut their attacking talent says they should be.”

Defensive signings could lead Inter Miami into MLS history

With so few options in central defense, a new signing or two in the position could be what Inter Miami need if they’re to establish themselves as the best side MLS has ever seen.

The attack have been nothing short of flawless, with Messi and Suarez working their magic alongside a strong supporting cast featuring Matias Rojas, Robert Taylor and Leonardo Campana.

And if one or two center-backs are signed this summer, there’s not telling how far Inter Miami can go when Messi returns, who could be urging his side to make new additions.
