Report: 'Outstanding' player is now very close to leaving Tottenham, he played 24 games last season

Tottenham Hotspur are edging closer towards securing their first sale of the summer transfer window.

Spurs are already proving to be ruthless when it comes to offloading players ahead of Ange Postecoglou’s second season in charge.

Just last week, Tottenham released Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon. Tanguy Ndombele looks set to follow the quartet out the door after reportedly agreeing to an early termination of his contract.

Spurs are yet to pick up a fee for a player but that could be about to change, with AC Milan closing in on the signing Emerson Royal.

AC Milan ‘closer’ to signing Emerson Royal from Tottenham

Royal looks set to head out the door this summer after racking up 24 appearances under Postecoglou last season.

The Brazilian managed just 11 starts in the Premier League though and despite his versatility, it’s evident he isn’t suited to Postecoglou’s demands.

Milan’s director Geoffrey Moncada flew to England for talks over Royal last week and now, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the two clubs are close to an agreement.

It’s claimed that Spurs have lowered their demands and Milan are now ready to advance negotiations.

Tottenham initially demanded a fee worth around £25.2 million but are now likely to accept an offer of roughly £16.8 million.

Following Spurs’ change of stance, it’s claimed that Milan are beginning to ‘glimpse the finish line’ in their attempts to land Royal.

Spurs already eyeing Royal replacement

With Royal’s switch to the San Siro looking more and more likely by the day, Spurs are already lining up potential replacements for the ‘outstanding’ full-back.

Tottenham have reportedly made contact over the signing of Monaco right-back Vanderson. The Brazilian managed four goal involvements in 20 Ligue 1 appearances last term and would provide excellent competition for Pedro Porro.

Should a move for Royal to Milan go through, it must be said that Spurs have made a positive start to the summer when it comes to offloading players.
