Chelsea fans are all saying the same thing after reports they have agreed a deal to sign Jhon Duran

Reports have claimed that Chelsea have reached an agreement with another Premier League side over a deal for one player this summer.

It has been claimed that the Blues have been in contact with Aston Villa over a potential deal for Jhon Duran, who has been a target for them for a number of months now.

Despite the fact he has limited Premier League experience, the 20-year-old has shown immense potential already in his limited appearances so far.

However, it is believed manager Unai Emery is not a massive fan of his, and would be open to his sale at the right price this summer.

There may be some appetite for both sides to complete a swap deal, with the top four side looking at the signing of Conor Gallagher.

After reports from South America stated that a fee had been agreed between the two parties, many Chelsea fans took to Twitter to give their thoughts.

Chelsea fans not convinced by Duran

One user said: “It was so, so clear that Chelsea needed a proven striker. A proper marksman. If now we end up signing Jhon Duran who is young, unproven, the club clearly don’t understand what was staring us in the face the whole time. Young and unproven is a major part of our identity issue.”

Another added: “Duran is not a ready goal scorer. He is another player that needs developing. I’d rather pay the higher price to get actual competition for Jackson.”

A third stated: “Haven’t seen much of him, doesn’t look terrible but I don’t think he offers more than Nico does. I thought we needed a starter that would take the load off Jackson. but this to me looks like Jackson will remain the number 1 guy.”

Another said: “Jhon Duran has shown potential and is absolutely adequate as a third striker in the squad. No way should he be our main addition up front.”

Finally, one claimed: “This guy’s more raw than Datro. Would much rather give Datro those minutes as a third striker who showed promising moments for a relegation side.”

The worry remains that bringing in a young striker like Duran will take away from the development of Nicolas Jackson, who enjoyed a strong first campaign in England.

Reports have already stated they are not going to be able to make the addition of Benjamin Sesko this summer, after he decided to stay at RB Leipzig for now at least.
