Report: Enzo Maresca has already been told Chelsea want to sign £50m player this summer

Chelsea’s transfer plans do not look to have changed following the appointment of Enzo Maresca.

Enzo Maresca replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea manager last week.

Since then, the Blues have already signed Tosin Adarabioyo from west London rivals Fulham.

Adarabioyo joined Chelsea after reaching the end of his contract at Fulham.

Chelsea are very unlikely to stop there, though, with a couple of wingers now being linked with moves to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s plans still the same after Enzo Maresca arrival

One wide man who Chelsea could sign this summer is Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise.

It has been claimed that the 22-year-old is actually the Blues’ top target for the summer.

As well as him, though, Chelsea also appear to be interested in Porto’s Pepe.

According to Record, Pepe was a target for the club before Maresca’s arrival and that has not changed, with the Italian still seeing his name in their “database”.

The same outlet claims that the Brazilian has a €60m (£50m) release clause in his contract.

Will Chelsea sign Pepe this summer?

It is a surprise to hear that Pepe has been on Chelsea’s radar for a while.

It does not matter who is in charge of the team; he does not really sound like a signing the club would make.

Chelsea have been targeting young players since being taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

Pepe is 27. He does not fit the club’s transfer strategy.

Ultimately, while you can easily see Chelsea snapping up someone like Olise this summer, it would be a surprise if they brought in Pepe.

The Brazil international remaining at Porto would be good news for Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk, who will not want more competition on the left flank.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, Sterling and Mudryk are actually the two men Chelsea want to be their two main left-wing options for the 2024/25 season.
