Three Tottenham transfer decisions for Ange Postecoglou after Tanguy Ndombele exit

Tottenham are set for a busy summer, which has kickstarted with an exit for club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele.

Spurs landed the French playmaker in 2019 from Olympique Lyon, costing a huge sum worth up to £65million.

There were glimpses of promise in the attacking midfielder, who displayed all the attributes of a player capable of replacing the outgoing Christian Eriksen.

Fast forward five years and it’s been a spell that many would rather forget as Ndombele struggled to make a place for himself at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 27-year-old had loan spells back at Lyon, Napoli and Galatasaray before returning to Tottenham with just one year remaining on his deal.

It was decided though that it would be best for all parties to part ways, with the club announcing that the midfielder has left by mutual termination of his contract.

While most fans were in agreement surrounding Ndombele’s Tottenham exit, it still leaves plenty to be done in the transfer market.

Whether that’s buying, selling or tying the best players to new contracts, there’s a lot left for Ange Postecoglou to address.

So with that said, here’s a look at everything left for Tottenham to do in the coming weeks of the transfer window.

Tottenham land winger transfer

One of the first things Tottenham should do in the summer transfer window is land another winger for Postecoglou.

Spurs lack a one-on-one option out wide who can take on a defender and beat them, which has led to some transfer links.

Eberechi Eze, Pedro Neto and Nico Williams are amongst those who have been touted with a switch to Hotspur Way and could suit the role perfectly.

Striker transfer priority for Tottenham

An incoming centre-forward could also be high on the list of priorities for Tottenham when it comes to the summer transfer window.

Both Heung-Min Son and Richarlison have been holding down the role so far under Postecoglou, though links continue over another option for the future.

Santiago Gimenez and Ivan Toney have been prominent names surrounding Spurs, both offering a goal-scoring touch and an ability to hold play up.

The decision over which player to land and the appropriate price point will be on that will be agonised over in the coming weeks.

Tottenham transfer exits

Ndombele’s exit signals the beginning of a whole host of potential moves that could begin at Tottenham in the market.

Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon are already moving on after the Spurs confirmed their contracts wouldn’t be renewed.

On top of that, there are decisions to be made over some fringe players who struggled to earn minutes throughout the previous season.

Giovani Lo Celso and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg perhaps top this list, with the duo entering the final year of their contracts.

On top of that, loanees Joe Rodon and Sergio Reguilon face uncertain futures at Spurs, also starting their final 12 months contracted to the club.

Oliver Skipp, Bryan Gil and Manor Solomon could also face decisions over their Tottenham place as part of a busy summer window.
