Three ways Tottenham can line up after £60m Eberechi Eze transfer with Ange Postecoglou plan

Tottenham continue to be linked with a whole host of options in the summer transfer window, with one of those being Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

Ange Postecoglou impressed in his first season with Spurs, implementing a style of play that favours attacking the opposition relentlessly.

The Tottenham boss saw some early success, topping the Premier League table in the first month or two, but the Lilywhites slowly drifted away after.

Injuries wreaked havoc on the squad as Postecoglou looked to keep up with the impact of losing key players.

It outlined how key quality in depth will likely be for the manager going forward, with a clear need for options who can be drafted into the Tottenham team without lowering the standard.

The attacking third is one of those areas that could be addressed this summer, with a one-on-one winger the likely profile required.

A player who fits the bill in that regard is Eze, the Crystal Palace star who has caught the eye at Selhurst Park.

Reports have claimed that Eze has a £60million release clause in his Crystal Palace contract that Tottenham could activate should they wish.

So with that said, here’s a look at how the 25-year-old could fit into the system at Spurs if he does sign.

Where Eberechi Eze could play for Tottenham

Left-wing

The main position Tottenham could utilise Eze in would be on the left wing, where he has so often thrived for Crystal Palace.

His ability to drive at defenders on the flanks makes him a threat, while his ability to go both inside and outside of them makes it even tougher to predict his movements.

The England international would likely take over from one of Richarlison, Heung-Min Son or Timo Werner by taking this role.

Possible front four lineup: Eberechi Eze, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski; Heung-Min Son.

Attacking midfielder

Another role that Eze has impressed in is the number ten role, also known as the attacking midfielder position.

With his silky smooth movements and ability to take on defenders, the Palace star is more than capable of picking up pockets of space between the lines and becoming a provider for his teammates.

This position comfortably belonged to James Maddison shortly after he arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but his poor form following injury in the latter half of the campaign opens up the chance for rotation.

Eze is more than comfortable fitting in here, adding some versatility to the side when required too.

Right-wing

The final position that Eze could play for Spurs is on the right wing, which is a position he hasn’t played too much throughout his career.

The forward, being predominantly right-footed, has shown a tendency to cut in from the left when at his best.

While that may prove deadly in some situations, it is clear that Postecoglou is keen to keep his team wide when trying to break down low blocks.

There was clear frustration at Dejan Kulusevski in the clash with Luton last season, due to his tendency to drift inside from the right with his favoured left foot.

By moving Eze to the right, there may be a tendency to drive on the outside, keeping his width but also having enough unpredictability to move inside when required.

This would, however, add him to the likes of Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson as options to play on that flank.

Possible front four lineup: Timo Werner, James Maddison, Eberechi Eze; Heung-Min Son.
