Report: Chelsea are starting to push to sign 'one of a kind' teenager ahead of Arsenal and Xabi Alonso

Chelsea are now in a transfer battle with both Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen to sign a highly-rated teenage talent.

From Chelsea’s transfer business in the last couple of years since the change of ownership, it’s pretty clear they’ve been after some of the world’s best young emerging players.

The Blues have invested in some superb youngsters for the future, albeit it’s left the first-team squad lacking experience and know-how.

It sounds like the club will continue to persist with this transfer strategy of long-term planning.

Now, Chelsea have been linked with a young Frenchman.

Chelsea pushing to sign 19-year-old talent

Le10 Sport claims that Chelsea are among the clubs interested in signing Stade Rennais player Desire Doue.

It is understood that Chelsea are starting to push their interest in the Ligue 1 attacker.

The report says that Enzo Maresca’s side are trying to convince the teenage winger to move to West London.

Doue, 19, is taking his time deciding his future as he’s also attracting attention from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen.

Le10 Sport adds that the Rennes forward does want a transfer move this summer and his club are listening to offers at the right price.

Who is Desire Doue?

Chelsea’s newest transfer target is an exciting youngster with a glowing reputation in French football.

The left-winger has already played 76 first-team games for Rennes since his breakthrough, scoring eight goals and supplying seven assists.

Baptiste Santamaria, the Rennes midfielder, has previously delivered a glowing verdict on teammate Doue.

Santamaria told TNT Sports in April: “He’s (Doue) a very talented player with a great sense of football. But he’s still young. But he’s a player who aspires to go to the biggest clubs. He’s one of a kind: he likes to hit the ball but he’s solid on his feet. Desire’s technical, percussive and physical qualities are quite incredible. When he becomes more consistent, he’ll be unplayable. For his age, he’s the most gifted youngster I’ve seen in my career.”

The emerging French teenager will be unknown to most Premier League audiences, but Chelsea fans may be a little more intrigued after hearing the praise above.
