Report: Chelsea are weighing up selling two players in the same position, one will go

Chelsea could have a big decision to make in the transfer window this summer.

The Blues have already brought Tosin Adarabioyo in from Fulham, and it looks like they want to sign more players.

However, before Chelsea do that in one area, they may need to sell someone.

The striker position looks like the next thing that could be addressed. The club are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran.

They could also bring in a new left-back in the transfer window, with it being claimed that they are really keen on Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.

One in, one out at Chelsea

Thiago Silva has left the club but Adarabioyo has arrived, and now something similar could happen in the left-back position.

While Kerkez could be joining the former Fulham defender at Stamford Bridge this summer, one of Marc Cucurella or Ben Chilwell could be leaving.

According to GiveMeSport, while Chelsea eye up Kerkez, the club are also weighing up who to sell out of Cucurella and Chilwell.

Having Kerkez, Cucurella and Chilwell all at Chelsea next season may be overkill, especially with Levi Colwill also able to cover at left-back if necessary.

Who are Chelsea more likely to sell, Marc Cucurella or Ben Chilwell?

If this was last summer, you would have said Chilwell. The England international has basically been Chelsea’s first-choice left-back since he arrived at the club from Leicester City in 2020.

As well as that, Cucurella had quite a tough debut season at Chelsea. He only made 21 starts in the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

Simply put, you would have expected more from him that term as one of the club’s most expensive ever signings.

However, last season, Cucurella showed his importance to this Chelsea side as an inverted full-back, something that Enzo Maresca utilised during his time as Leicester City manager. Considering that, Cucurella is probably in a much safer position than Chilwell right now.
